More than three years ago, a new bright, twinkling star was born in the constellation of the Southern Cross above the Indian Ocean: only a short boat ride away from the 6-star luxury-resort Le Touessrok, Bernhard Langer created an extraordinary golf course on the resort’s very own island, the Ile aux Cerfs, a golf course destined to become one of the wonders of the game in the Southern Hemisphere.

The author of these sentences very much enjoyed playing the Le Touessrok Golf Course and is – even two years later – still brimming over with excitement. Not only the exclusive island setting makes this course so spectacular – all holes have views of reefs, lagoons, of practically the whole Indian Ocean. Neither is it the fact that a private boat shuttle takes you to and from the golf course. No, Bernhard Langer, the German golf and Ryder-Cup hero, has designed a stunning course here, which could hardly be topped. The beautiful island with its tropical palms and mangroves, the Ocean with its tides, volcanic rock outcrops and the natural undulating topography of the island have become the setting for drives, pitches and puts.

The Ile-aux Cerfs Golf Course is not only open to Resort guests (unlimited Golf for Hotel guests inclusive); also green fee visitors from other hotels in Mauritius are welcome (rack rate 165,- Euro). The Bernhard Langer Course is not a course for a little walk or a stroll. The masterpiece is a par 72, playing over 6478 metres, is the longest course in Mauritius – and always fair. Specifi c hole designs and names such as Tidal Pool, Mangrove or Cat and Mouse (with a view of the Cat and Mouse mountain) are indications of what is awaiting you, liven you up and inspire respect. The golf course is partially bizarre, a real challenge, but breathtakingly beautiful.
