Porto Marina und Emerald Hills Golf
New Jewels on Egypt’s Mediterranean Coast
Due to the emerald-green colour of the Mediterranean, the course has been named
When you think of Egypt, you imagine pyramids, the Nile, and the Red Sea. In the north of the ancient pharaohs’ country, however, a major development is taking place on the Mediterranean Coast between Alexandria and El Alamein, an area, that has remained almost undiscovered by tourists – Porto Marina and Emerald Hills Golf are new jewels on Egypt’s Mediterranean Coast.
There is no doubt that Egypt offers a myriad of culture, history and nature: deserts, the Nile, the Red Sea, temples, museums and pyramids as well as golf courses almost everywhere which can all be combined with excursions to historical sites.
And you find an almost virgin coast – not taking into account the Nile Delta and Alexandria – of the Mediterranean featuring snow-white sand, emerald-green and sapphire-blue water, a backdrop of desert as far as the eye can see, and – 450 km away – the Siwa Oasis featuring the temple where Alexander the Great was crowned Egypt’s Pharaoh. The Egyptian circle comes full at the Mediterranean Coast and the desert.
And the same is planned for golf tourism. Situated between Alexandria and El Alamein, Porto Marina has positioned itself and its yacht marina as the centre of this Mediterranean region. A new development featuring resort, hotel, villas and apartments as well as golf facilities is going to add to Porto Marina’s already excellent reputation.
We are in the middle of the Egyptian North Coast only 3 hours by car from Cairo and 1-2 hours from Alexandria, an area which is primarily frequented by wealthy Egyptians and is now entering into a new era in tourism history by creating a top quality tourism destination.
The Porto Marina Resort seems straight out of 1001 Nights. Situated directly by the sea, the first section of the hotel has been established already and features 300 guest rooms and suites together with an elegant promenade for strolling with bars, restaurants, shops and cafés. The first section of the marina – where the yacht club will soon provide 1,200 yacht berths – is ready for use – and the shuttle-boat will take you to both new beaches. The famous dive centre of the Alamein Underwater Museum and a cinema centre also awaits you.
An apartment complex of more than 1,000 accommodation units will follow soon.
The absolute golf pearl in the crown of Porto Marina is being established close to the Porto Marina Resort – no, not directly at the Mediterranean beaches – and can be reached by complimentary bus-shuttle. The developer, The Raymond Hern Group, is creating a somewhat short par 68, 18-hole golf course meeting all requirements of an excellent world-class golf course, where the blaze of colours from desert, sea, and surrounding nature combine in oriental splendour. Due to the emerald-green colour of the Mediterranean, the course has been named Emerald Hills. It lies sheltered from the wind on a former plaster quarry which is practically being re-natured by golf. White mountain faces, yellow deserts, green fairways and greens, bright red-green Bougainvilleas, a steel-blue sky and emerald-green water – this is where a golfer’s heart is filled with joy – on a course where you may not need a driver, but where strategically placed water and sand hazards demand mental strength and technical perfection making happy golf moments possible.
A club house, practice facilities and a smaller luxury golf hotel together with villas and bungalows will be built around the course. The domiciles of passionate golfers will be the setting of the golf pearl. The treasure chest has been left open for golf vacation and golf real estate on the Mediterranean Coast.

We are looking forward to welcoming you.
