Ras Al Kaimah Al Hamra Golf Club

Impressive Links Golf at the Arabian Gulf - Almost at the Strait of Hormus
Ras Al Kaimah Al Hamra Golf Club

The most northern Emirate of the seven United Arab Emirates is located at the border to Oman

in a rather quiet, rural, and above all, green area at the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormus.

Located close to the capital and built around numerous lagoons are the formidable facilities of the Al Hamra Golf Club, the Al Hamra Real Estate and the Al Hamra Fort Hotel. This is where Arabian mentality and quiet wellbeing are mirrored in the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf – a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Dubai or Abu Dhabi. This is where Arabia is real, and this is where you can play great golf on one of the very few real links courses of the Orient in front of the majestic Hajjar Mountains.

Peter Harradine, whose father designed the Seefeld Golf Course in Tyrol, has created a golf course in the purest tradition of Scottish links golf. The front nine holes make it way out and away from the golf clubhouse along the lagoon towards the ocean. The back nine holes meander along the apposite lagoon back to the excellent clubhouse. The course measures 7,325 yards by par 72 and – the Arabs are fair – features five varying tee boxes. It is slightly undulated with very fast greens. As is the case with almost all links courses, numerous water hazards, bunkers, and prevailing winds make it a real challenge.

And there is no shortage of water in Al Hamra Golf Club – and none in the entire Emirate, by the way. Compared to the other Emirates, Ras Al Kaimah is blessed with lush vegetation nurtured by heavy rains from the Hajjar Mountains and a correspondingly high ground-water level. This allows for intensive and distinct farming in the northern part of the Emirate, whereas immense dunes cover the southern part – the beginning of the famous

Rub al-Chali Desert.

The Al Hamra Golf Club is one of very few clubs to boast two separate clubhouses. The Main Clubhouse offers beautiful panoramic views of the lagoons and the Arabian Gulf and features reception and locker rooms (fitted with rain showers) as well as a sundeck and relaxation rooms. The Main Clubhouse offers two restaurants, both with outdoor seating options: the Lagoons Sports Bar and the Zahara’s Restaurant.

The Academy Clubhouse is located right behind the spacious driving range and its facilities. It offers a self-contained club in the Club with a Fitness Centre, and Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms with sauna. The Dunes Café, serving light and healthy delicacies, is also located in the Academy Clubhouse.

The Al Hamra Golf Club – a course that offers joy of the game and pleasant relaxation.
